Koenraad Marchand obtained a Master’s degree (licentiaat) in Political Science at the VUB in 2005, combining his studies with a career as a civil servant working on environmental issues at the VVSG, the Association of Flemish Cities and Municipalities.
He worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Political Science. He is preparing a PhD thesis on the response of metropolitan governance to the changing economy. The aim of this research project is to examine what city governments can do for local economic development, and it will include a comparative study of Ghent and Liège and their respective use of economic policy instruments. |
