| biographical note |
Karen Celis is research professor at the Department of Political Science of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is also member of RHEA Centre for Gender and Diversity. Her research interests include the political representation of groups (women, ethnic minorities, LBGT, age and class groups) and equality policy.
She has held teaching positions in political science and comparative politics at University College Ghent (Belgium) and Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (The Netherlands). In 2012 she helt the Francqui chair on Political Participation.
She is co-convenor of the ECPR Standing Group on Gender and Politics and co-editor of The Oxford Handbook on Gender and Politics (Oxford University Press, 2013)
